Ecobuild, the exhibition for sustainable design, construction and energy-efficient solutions, opens its doors once again this week (3-5 March 2015) at ExCeL London. It showcases all sorts of eco-friendly products and sustainable ideas for new build domestic and commercial projects, as well as options for retro-fit/refurbishment. These ‘green’ initiatives are something that COBA Flooring, a UK based manufacturer, is very keen to support with our entrance matting and commercial flooring choices, and will adopt wherever possible.
One way we are doing this is through sourcing recycled materials for use in some of our entrance matting and flooring products. Tough-Lock Eco floor tiles, for example, are manufactured from 100% recycled PVC. It is a robust interlocking floor tile system for heavy duty commercial use; it can even withstand the weight of large vehicles such as fork lift trucks in warehouses, or commercial garages and car show rooms. The tile system is easy to install and an eco-friendly, quick-fit solution to refurbishing damaged floor surfaces.
Our Premier range of entrance matting systems also has strong ‘green credentials’. Premier Grip Entrance Tiles, a scraper tile for indoor or outdoor use, is produced from 100% recycled PVC. The floor tiles feature hundreds of tiny raised ‘scraping nodules’ which act as a brush on passing footwear to remove dirt and debris. COBA’s Premier Grip Tiles can also be used in conjunction with Premier Track and Premier Plus Entrance Tiles. Both Premier Track and Premier Plus have a nylon or needlepunch carpet insert with a recycled PVC base tile. The carpet and base tile combined comprise approximately 80% recycled materials.
Sales from COBA’s Floorings’ Premier range of products throughout 2015 are contributing to our Forest Floor Initiative, in support of an environmental project in the Midlands. Our team at COBA Flooring will be planting a tree in The National Forest for every 100 square metres of our Premier entrance floor products sold this year. Every tree planted supports the National Forest’s project to transform 200 square miles of land in central England enhancing conservation and helping to offset the effects of climate change through carbon reduction in the atmosphere.
We all need to consider how our everyday activities, and the equipment and products we use, affect the environment. Ecobuild is always a refreshing reminder, focusing on the challenges that impact the built environment. There are two main show zones in categories of Sustainable Design & Construction and Energy.
As well as the main Ecobuild conference and exhibition, there are many seminars addressing a range of topics, linked to carbon reduction, renewables and energy management, including a new seminar stream and workshops on Building Information Modelling (BIM), helping designers and contractors understand the importance of BIM for ‘better designed, more efficient buildings’. COBA already has a range of BIM ready entrance matting products spanning both our aluminium and PVC/carpet systems, in our ‘Premier’ and ‘Plan’ collections.
