GRP for Board Walks

It is very easy to think of ‘boardwalks’ as the traditional path of timber planks; however it’s not always the case nowadays as many modern boardwalks incorporate recycled plastic or alternative materials, such as concrete. One of the most famous UK seaside board walks is of course the Brighton Pier.

Where there are crowds of people, there is also the potential for slip-related accidents no more so than on timber boards or ‘decking style’ pathways and platforms – especially when they are wet and untreated. General residue and algae build up can be a problem. It’s not just a risk for those on foot; slippery or poorly maintained surfaces are also a danger for cyclists. Deteriorated and uneven surfaces can be costly to replace or repair.

Help is at hand in the form of COBAGRiP®. The durable GRP sheets can be screwed into the existing wooden floor (or glued to concrete) to create an even, safe walkway. The gritted surface has excellent ant-slip properties and what’s more, GRP can withstand harsh climatic conditions so it is perfect for outdoor use.
