COBA is one of the most established names in the manufacture and supply of matti ng and fl ooring throughout Europe.
As a company, it prides itself on quality of product and quality of service, off ering its worldwide customer base one of the largest ranges of matti ng and fl ooring products.
COBA was formed in 1966 trading as COBA Plasti cs Ltd. It then operated from very small premises in central England run by its two co-founders who embarked on the business of manufacturing plasti c extrusions. This business went from strength to strength, and today is regarded as a world class manufacturer of thermoplasti c extrusions uti lising state-of-the-art technology in its design and manufacturing processes.
It is from these roots in manufacturing plasti c extrusions that COBA's then Matti ng Division was born, when it commenced manufacture of COBAmat safety matti ng back in 1979 as an alternati ve to wooden duck-boarding. COBA was one of the fi rst companies to introduce the concept of industrial 'safety matti ng' in the UK.
Since then, the company has grown at a rapid pace, not only expanding its range of in-house manufactured goods, but also introducing many new products to its collection.
This conti nued growth heralded the building of a brand new purpose-built offi ce, manufacturing and warehouse facility in Fleckney in 2007, exclusively for COBA's UK matti ng and fl ooring business now trading as COBA Europe Ltd.
The COBA group's parent company COBA Internati onal Ltd re-structured its UK business operati on in 2007 to refl ect this growth in forming a dedicated company for its matti ng division– COBA Europe Ltd.
COBA Internati onal also acquired the safety knife manufacturer, Moving Edge, in 2008 which today trades under the name of COBA Europe and in 2010, made a further acquisiti on of hose/tube manufacturer, Copely Developments Ltd which retains its established Copely branding.
Meanwhile COBA Plasti cs Ltd, the extrusion manufacturing arm of the business, conti nues to fl ourish as one of the world leaders in its fi eld.
COBA Europe also has localised sales and warehouse faciliti es in Germany, Slovakia and South Africa. COBA Europe GmbH operates from spacious warehouse and offi ce premises in Pullenweg with capacity to stock the full product range for effi cient supply to customers throughout Europe. Customers in Eastern Europe are well served too through COBA Plasti cs s.r.o. based in Slovakia, while COBA Plasti cs (Pty) also now off ers an extensive choice of matti ng products to a wide range of customers in South Africa.
The COBA Internati onal group of companies today employs a workforce of 500 with its head offi ce based in Fleckney, near Leicester in the United Kingdom.
